Jammu Crime Branch registers five FIRs in multi-crore job, visa scams; 16 booked

An FIR has been registered against Choudhary Mushtaq, a resident of Morian Manjakote, Rajouri, and others for allegedly duping 41 candidates of Rs 1.43 crore on the pretext of providing jobs in the Territorial Army and issuing fake appointment orders.
Another FIR has been filed against Hem Raj and Kavya Nayyar, residents of Bari Brahmana, Samba, for allegedly duping Avinash Singh of Bhaderwah, Doda, of Rs 18.55 lakh on the false promise of securing him a managerial post in the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra.
Yet another FIR has been registered on the complaint of Prem Nath from Samba in a Rs 17.09 lakh visa scam against the owner and executives of Chandigarh-based company M/s Saphire. Those booked include Jass Bajwa (owner), Yuvraj Singh Sandhu (Manager), Gagan (Counsellor), Devinder Singh (In-charge of Refunds), Shalika (Authorised Signatory) and others.
In compliance with court directions on an application by retired Executive Engineer Shakti Singh, an FIR has also been registered against officials of the office of XEN, JPDCL Batote, for allegedly forging his signatures after retirement and fraudulently withdrawing huge sums from the official account.
In another case, on the complaint of Nasir Ali of Mendhar, an FIR has been filed against Usman Afzal of Mendhar, Mohd Wasim (an advocate), and a woman from Mendhar for allegedly preparing and using a false, forged affidavit in an SRO-43 process.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Crime, Jammu, Benam Tosh confirmed that five cases have been registered at the Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu, and that investigations are underway.
