The Commissioner emphasised that street lighting is a critical component of urban infrastructure, directly linked with the safety and convenience of citizens. He pointed out that poorly lit streets not only cause inconvenience to the public but also pose security risks, particularly during odd and night hours.

Yadav directed the officials of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and the Executive Engineer (Electric), JMC, to ensure immediate redressal of public complaints regarding non-functional street lights. He stressed the need for a robust monitoring system, timely field inspections, and strict accountability of field staff.

The Commissioner also instructed that proper maintenance schedules must be followed, and faulty lights should be repaired or replaced within a stipulated time frame. Citizens should not be made to wait for basic facilities like functional street lights, he added.
