According to an official, continuous train announcements are being made at key stations including Jammu, Pathankot Cantt, Pathankot City, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Srinagar, to keep passengers updated with real-time information about train movements.

Help desks have been set up at various stations to assist travellers with queries and provide on-the-spot solutions to travel-related issues. Temporary holding areas have also been created at busy stations to manage passenger flow. These holding zones are equipped with drinking water, fans, toilets and adequate seating facilities to improve passenger comfort.

To further ensure security, additional personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) have been deployed across station premises, with special attention being paid to monitoring entry and exit gates.

A 24x7 surveillance room has also been established in the Jammu division to monitor key stations continuously and respond swiftly in case of emergencies.

“In view of the festivals, the Rail Madad passenger grievance redressal system has been strengthened to resolve issues promptly. Special emphasis is also being laid on maintaining train punctuality,” the official added.

Addressing concerns about previous service disruptions, he noted that train operations had earlier been impacted by heavy rains and waterlogging. “However, due to the promptness of senior divisional officials, trains have been operated in phases. Recently, some trains were reinstated in the fifth phase, which is proving to be a better travel option for passengers during the festive season,” he said.

It is important to note, however, that several popular trains used by a large number of commuters are yet to resume operations.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, urged passengers to plan their journeys in advance, avoid overcrowding at stations and follow railway regulations to ensure smooth and safe travel during the festive period.
