The police said an extensive search of the premises was conducted after they received the threat. A police statement said “one hoax call “was received from an unidentified caller regarding the presence of a bomb/explosive at Jammu railway station on Sunday evening.” The police said realising the sensitivity of this information, Jammu police, along with Railway police, acted “swiftly and the whole area of the railway station was thoroughly searched, checked.”
The police said the area was cleared but nothing suspicious was found. “The process of identification of the caller is going on,” they said. Officials said that there is already adequate security deployment at the airport and after the hoax call, all precautions are being taken by the railway authorities. Jammu Tawi railway station is the main railway station of the UT. It also houses the office of the northern railways’ Jammu division as well.
This bomb threat comes ahead of the inauguration of Vande Bharat train service from Katra to Srinagar which is expected to take place this week. PM Modi, who was to flag off the first train to the Kashmir valley from Katra on April 19, is now expected to inaugurate the train on June 6.
