Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said Jammu and Kashmir was witnessing phenomenal development in terms of infrastructure, transportation and power.

He said the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency witnessed the initiation of national-level projects like the Devika river project and Pakal Dul hydropower project, and several stalled projects like the Shahpur-Kandi project and Ratle projects had also been introduced.

“At the same time, North India’s first Industrial Biotech Park and the first express corridor from Katra to Delhi were initiated in a single constituency. It even got three government medical colleges,” he said at a BJP meeting in Udhampur.

Pamphlets were distributed highlighting 75 major development projects initiated in the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency in the last eight years.

Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi personified the true essence of democracy, “wherein a common man from a humble background can rise to the highest echelons simply on the basis of merit and people’s support”.

He noted that the public welfare schemes and programmes introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the last eight years for the benefit of deprived sections of society “are in fact redemption of six decades of struggle by the BJP for establishing a governance system based on the principle of justice for all, appeasement to none”.

“The benefits like the Ujjawala scheme and PM Awas Yojana reached the needy regardless of caste, creed, religion, political affiliation or vote bank considerations,” he said.
