Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsReferring to the recently discovered lithium reserves in Reasi district where Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the world’s highest railway bridge, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said these will help in India achieving the target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
He made these remarks while addressing a public gathering in Katra while welcoming PM Modi to the region. “You (PM) will be delighted to know that large quantity of lithium mineral deposits have been found here. When that lithium comes into use, it will play a major role in helping us achieve net-zero emissions target by 2070. There are many wonders here that are yet to be explored. But now, with your blessings, they are joining the journey of Viksit Bharat.”
Jitendra Singh said the direct rail link to Valley will transform the railway infrastructure in the region, calling it a landmark achievement that has redefined connectivity. He recalled how for decades, the dream of linking Kashmir by rail seemed distant, with projects repeatedly delayed or stalled.
The Minister highlighted that these developments are not merely engineering feats but powerful symbols of national integration and progress, bringing the Valley closer to the rest of the country.
