Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Ali Khatana on Wednesday said that the people of Kashmir have finally rejected “30 years of bloodshed, deceit, and misrule by the National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Congress,” and have embraced a new vision of peace, prosperity and development.
Khatana was addressing an election rally in Budgam, where bypolls are scheduled to be held on November 11. Campaigning for BJP candidate Mohsin Aga, Khatana urged people to support the party’s agenda of peace and progress.
“For over three decades, NC, PDP, and Congress kept Kashmir bleeding for their political interests. They divided people, destroyed the youth’s future, and halted development. Today, the people of Kashmir have awakened — they want jobs and progress, not bullets and slogans,” he said.
The BJP MP alleged that the National Conference was “nothing more than a family-run party” where opportunities were limited to a few individuals. “Due to this family dominance, the marginalised sections of society never got a fair chance — only family members benefited. NC, PDP, and Congress are all family-based parties that monopolised power and opportunities. For seventy years, these parties discriminated against the people of Budgam. Only the BJP can bring real development and justice to them,” he added.
Khatana also criticised the National Conference leadership for “betraying the trust” of the people of Budgam. “After the Assembly elections, Omar Abdullah resigned from the Budgam constituency and left the people to their fate. The same party that sought votes from the people abandoned them soon after victory. This shows how little they care about the welfare of ordinary citizens,” he said.
He further alleged that the NC had failed to deliver on its promises and had instead “misled and manipulated the public while doing no real work for their progress.”
