The Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Choudhary, today reiterated that Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) are an integral part of the region’s cultural and social fabric, emphasising the government’s unwavering commitment to their dignified rehabilitation.

The Deputy CM made these remarks while addressing a gathering on the side-lines of his visit to Jagti Township, Nagrota, in Jammu. He was accompanied by senior officials, including the Relief Commissioner (Migrants), Director of Health Services Jammu, Director General of Floriculture, Director of Food Supplies Jammu and other key officers.

During the event, Choudhary stressed the government’s dedication to addressing the concerns of Kashmiri Pandits and ensuring their well-being through targeted initiatives and welfare schemes. He affirmed that efforts were being intensified to improve the quality of life for residents of Jagti Township and the broader Kashmiri Migrant community.

“Our commitment to their rehabilitation is unwavering, and we are focused on providing a better standard of living through robust support systems,” said Choudhary. He further directed officers to address the grievances of the residents promptly and resolve issues within the shortest possible time.

As part of his visit, the Deputy CM conducted a thorough review of the existing facilities at Jagti Township. He assessed key areas such as health and education infrastructure, the availability of drinking water and other essential services provided to the residents.

In a detailed inspection of healthcare services at the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Jagti, the Deputy CM directed the Director of Health Services to ensure the provision of uninterrupted, high-quality medical care. He emphasised the need for an adequate supply of medicines to meet the demands of patients and called for the upgrading of existing hospital infrastructure to enhance service delivery.

Choudhary’s visit underscored the government’s continuous efforts to improve the living conditions of Kashmiri Migrants and its commitment to their dignified rehabilitation.
