In a concerted effort to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) beneficiary data, Kathua Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Minhas chaired a meeting on Monday to review the progress in the ongoing exercise of weeding out of ineligible beneficiaries.

Minhas took a first-hand appraisal of NFSA beneficiary list and the elimination of ineligible beneficiaries as notified by the government. He emphasised the importance of coordination between the officers of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department, BDOs and tehsildars in conducting thorough door-to-door surveys. “These surveys are essential for the accurate identification and subsequent removal of ineligible names,” he added. During the meeting, it was revealed that data from over 1.5 lakh families would be authenticated in this process, with the target completion date set for July 28.
