The meeting, chaired by Shashanka Ala, Secretary, Information Technology Department, aimed to identify practical AI-driven solutions, pilot use cases and a roadmap for integrating AI into governance, public service delivery and citizen engagement.
A detailed presentation by CoRover AI highlighted the scope of AI across sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, tourism and administration. It outlined how AI-based innovations could help Ladakh overcome its geographical and infrastructural challenges while enhancing accessibility, efficiency and sustainability.
During the discussion, the Secretary engaged closely with the presenters, raising pointed questions on the applicability, efficiency and scalability of AI tools in real-world government operations. She emphasised the need for AI solutions that simplify processes, reduce manpower dependency and deliver tangible benefits to departments handling heavy workloads.
Referring to examples such as NCERT’s problem-solving platforms, she called for the development of solutions that are “practical, user-friendly and accessible to all sections of society.”
The Secretary further highlighted the importance of adopting AI gradually, starting with small, department-specific use cases. She suggested piloting AI models through concrete examples such as land and revenue data platforms, ensuring robust authentication and accuracy before broader deployment. She also advised against duplicating existing chatbot facilities already functioning in departments and instead focusing on more impactful tools such as automated systems for meeting documentation and data management.
While acknowledging AI’s immense potential, the Secretary stressed that its implementation in Ladakh should match the region’s scale and digital reach. The meeting also discussed the potential of AI in governance through analytics-based systems and chatbots to offer citizens instant access to services, streamline grievance redressal and strengthen transparency.
