A delegation of anganwadi workers called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier BD Mishra (retd), and sought his intervention to enhance their honorarium.

Advisor to the L-G, Pawan Kotwal; Commissioner/Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Padma Angmo; Director, Finance Department, Safdar Ali and representatives of the Anganwadi workers were present during the meeting.

The delegates informed the L-G that UT’s share in their honorarium is less compared to UTs like Chandigarh. They requested the L-G to raise Ladakh’s part in their honorarium so that they could make their ends meet. They also mentioned the dedication of anganwadi workers towards their work.

The L-G commended their work and dedication. Stating that their honorarium was increased in 2022, the L-G assured them to examine the matter when the budget allocations for the UT improve.

Later, Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee called on the L-G apprising the latter of the requirements for a winter contingency budget for fodder and feed for the livestock.

Yakzee informed the L-G about the requirements for a contingency budget for the procurement of fodders and feeds, including procurement of 700 quintals of barley due to the drought conditions this year. He also informed the L-G about the initiative taken by Hill Council, Leh, for the establishment of craft centres in Durbuk and Changthang areas for the promotion of local products to improve the livelihood of women self-help groups in rural areas of Leh district.
