Leh DC holds meeting on skill development
Leh Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve convened a District Skill Committee (DSC) meeting to review the district skill development plans.
During the meeting, member secretary of the skill committee briefed about different kind of skill development plans. He mentioned that skill training in colleges under the New Education Policy are being imparted where different skills are taught. In addition, he proposed that the trainings should be monitored for the District Skill Committee to understand the quality of the trainings. In addition, he also proposed if monitoring of skill training could be executed by the implementing departments.
The committee also discussed about career counselling, assisting trainees in promoting self-employment, training and capacity-building as a part of the skill development plans. Reviewing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the Technical Education and Skill Development Department for implementation of career counselling for students of Leh district in coordination with the Employment Department.
He also mentioned that there is no proper mechanism to know the details of the trainings. He instructed the committee to maintain a single monitoring system where all the data related to skill development training by any department could be uploaded. He also added that the data must be updated every month for the knowledge of the DSC.
Furthermore, District Social Welfare Officer suggested to have skill development training for disable people for which the officer proposed to submit a DPR.
