Srinagar, September 26

Security forces today arrested a militant associate along with arms in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, the police said.

Akeel Ahmad Parray of Mandigam Kralgund was arrested on a tip-off.

“The Handwara police, along with the security forces, launched a cordon and search operation in orchards of Mandigam Kralgund village. During the operation, a person was found in a suspicious condition who tried to escape from the spot, but was chased and apprehended by the search party,” a cop said.

During search, arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession. On interrogating the man, it was found that he was working with the Lashkar-e-Toiba as an associate.

The police registered a case.
