The step was taken as a precautionary measure as an assault rifle was recovered from the locker of a doctor at Government Medical College, Anantnag. The incident took place during the investigation of the “white collar” terror module.
An official of the hospital informed that the exercise of identifying the unclaimed lockers has been intensified after the recent incidents involving doctors. The lock of an almirah was broken by the authorities in presence of police. A four-member committee has also been constituted to conduct the inspection of the lockers on the hospital premises.
The official said that the exercise will ensure that there were no unclaimed or suspicious lockers present inside the hospital.
