Jammu: A man has been arrested for allegedly posting derogatory remarks on social media in Kishtwar district, officials said. The action was taken by police in response to a complaint filed by a journalist, they said. Acting promptly, an FIR has been registered at Kishtwar Police Station under relevant sections of the law, they said. The Cyber cell conducted a raid and arrested the accused, they said. SSP Khalil Poswal urged public to refrain from engaging in illegal activities on social media platforms. PTI

Criminal held under Public Safety Act in Jammu

Jammu: A man wanted in many criminal cases was arrested by the police under the Public Safety Act (PSA) here, officials said on Thursday. Acting on a tiff off, police conducted a raid and arrested Flex Matoo on Wednesday, they said. Police had submitted a dossier against him to the district magistrate, who approved his detention under the PSA, they said. The accused was allegedly involved in cases of attempt to murder, thefts and snatching. PTI

Man injured in attack by wild bear in Poonch district

Jammu: A man was injured in an attack by a wild bear in Poonch district on Thursday, officials said. The incident took place in Surankote area when the man was attacked by a bear in a forest area, they said. The locals rushed to the spot and saved him and took him to a hospital for treatment. The victim got sixty stitches, the official said. PTI

Wild deer rescued by Army troops along LoC

Rajouri: Army troops rescued a wild deer trapped in barbed wire fencing along Line of Control in Rajouri, officials said on Thursday. The animal, which is considered to be of endangered species was found entangled in barbed wire fence of Anti Infiltration Obstacle System and sustained injuries. The army troops rescued the deer and provided necessary medical aid and later handed it over to the wildlife protection department.
