Minister Satish Sharma assesses winter preparedness of transport, food depts

During the review of the Transport Department’s preparedness, a spokesperson reported that the minister inquired about the maintenance of buses, revenue generation and transport services to remote areas, among other matters. He emphasised the importance of enhancing efficiency and transparency within the department, stating, “There is a need to provide better and more efficient transport facilities to the public, especially those living in far-flung areas and patients.”
The minister also stressed the need to adopt and incorporate innovative ideas to further improve and streamline the functioning of the Transport Department.
In his review of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), the Minister assessed the stock and supply position of essential goods in the Kashmir division and the extra arrangements made by the department for the winter season. He expressed satisfaction with the department’s functioning, saying that FCS&CA is directly linked to the people, making it imperative for its officials to ensure that consumers do not face any difficulties, particularly during the winter months.
A delegation from the Jammu & Kashmir Hotels and Restaurants Association (JKHARA) met the Minister to raise several issues concerning the tourism sector and its development.
