Mock drill conducted at Qazigund railway station
As the Railways prepares for the launch of train services from Katra to Banihal, J&K Police, Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Fire & Emergency services on Tuesday conducted a mock drill at the Qazigund railway station in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
A spokesperson for the Kulgam Police said that the exercise was carried out by the local police alongside other forces “to assess emergency response mechanisms and preparedness in handling critical situations.” The mock drill aimed to prepare field forces to respond quickly and safely to any untoward incident, particularly those of a terror-related nature. It also focused on assessing the security response time, coordination, and overall effectiveness of the forces involved.
“The exercise also aimed to identify areas for improvement and streamline the response mechanism,” the spokesperson said.
The mock drill was conducted under the supervision of SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal who “appreciated the efforts of security forces present in enhancing its emergency response capabilities,” the spokesperson said.
“The mock drill exercise is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our emergency response mechanisms and provide effective services to the community,” the spokesperson added.
According to Railways, trials are being conducted as part of the overall trials ahead of the launch of train services on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) route.
