MP Haneefa Jan checks progress of new domestic terminal at Leh airport

Ladakh Member of Parliament Mohmad Haneefa Jan chaired a meeting with the Airport Advisory Committee, KBR Airport, Leh, to review the progress of the new airport terminal.

The meeting was attended by Leh Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Shruti Arora, Leh airport officials, senior officials from IAF and others.

During the meeting, members of the All Ladakh Hotel and Guesthouse Association and All Ladakh Tour Operators Association apprised the MP and other officials about various issues such as bay capacity, additional bay during peak season, special guests services, proper waiting area for drivers, travel agents, sanitation and maintenance during winter season, simplification of tender process for local entrepreneurs at the new terminal, proper medical assistance for tourist, introduction of new technology to scan passports instead of filling Form C and others.

Leh airport officials briefed about the various steps taken on the issues that were raised during the meeting. The officials also updated the status of Thoise airport where UT administration and Indian Air Force are in talk.

Leh airport project general manager A Umasankar gave a detailed report on the status of the new terminal. He highlighted that the target time to finish the project is by October 2025, but they are expected to finish the project two months prior i.e. by August 2025.

IAF officials spoke about the bays and said that two bays are fully dedicated to private aircrafts. They said that they are willing to provide the third bay only for special requirements or emergencies.
