The Lt Governor was speaking while presiding over the second convocation ceremony of the University of Ladakh as the chief guest.
Congratulating the graduating students and describing them as the torchbearers of a prosperous and progressive Ladakh, Gupta said the youth of the Union Territory must dream big, remain committed to excellence, and contribute actively to building a stronger and more developed India.
Gupta underlined that education, skill development and women’s empowerment remain top priorities for the UT administration. He said the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in Ladakh is opening new opportunities for students to acquire advanced skills, embrace innovation and become job creators rather than job seekers.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives, the Lt Governor said that investments are being made in modern academic infrastructure, digital learning tools, and industry linkages to enable Ladakh’s youth to compete with the best in the world. He added that special focus is being given to ensuring equitable access to education, particularly for girl students, as a vital step towards social progress and empowerment.
The Lt Governor also stressed the importance of research, startups, and entrepreneurship in shaping Ladakh’s future, assuring continued support to the University and young innovators. “We are determined to turn Ladakh into a hub of knowledge, innovation and sustainability while preserving its unique cultural and ecological identity,” he said.
The ceremony, which witnessed the participation of faculty, students and dignitaries, also reflected the Administration’s broader vision of improving quality of life in Ladakh through investments in healthcare, connectivity, renewable energy and skill-based livelihood generation.
During the event, degrees and medals were conferred upon meritorious students in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements.
