Neglected, parks become safe haven for stay animals

In the absence of any human activity in parks and gardens, these places have become safe havens for stray dogs and prowling cats.

Almost all parks and gardens are occupied by these animals. Some mohalla parks have even started stinking of animal excreta.

“Cats flock parks at midnight and scream, sending shivers down our spine as animals crying is often regarded as a bad omen. Dogs are also seen lying on the grass,” said Suman Rajat, a housewife from Sarwal.

Meanwhile, heaps of rotting leaves and other foliage are lying in parks from days.

“We have no directions from the authority for the time being to go out and clean the parks as all focus is on the pandemic. Since there is no human activity at present, the cleansing would be done as soon life returns to normal,” said a garden keeper of Rani Talab.

Residents said though clearing off garbage can be done later, but the administration should keep a check on animals spoiling the parks and gardens.
