Professor RK Gupta, Director Research, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu, today took over the charge of Vice- Chancellor (V-C), SKUAST-Jammu.

Being the son of the soil and first-ever scientist from Jammu region, Professor Gupta has diverse experience of 38 years in academic, research and management.

He has obtained M.Sc, PhD and post doctorate qualifications from institutes of repute in India and abroad. He has developed five varieties and identified over hundred varieties in vegetables/spices crops. He has published over 70 research, technical and policy papers and over 130 popular articles besides 11 books/ manuals/proceedings. He has been conferred with many awards at national and international level

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
