Following the reports on violation of guidelines for visitors, Udhampur district administration on Monday announced that only people having confirmed hotel bookings would be allowed to visit famous hill resort Patnitop from July 17.

The administration has also decided that no day picnickers would be allowed to visit hill resort.

“Patnitop visitors may note few decisions taken by Udhampur DDMA (District Disaster Management Act), today. From Friday (17/07), those with confirmed hotel booking shall only be allowed to visit Patnitop. No day picnickers allowed. Non-wearing of mask may attract Rs 1,000 fine. Stay safe stay strong,” Dr Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur tweeted on Monday evening.

Several videos and photographs of Patnitop hill resort went viral in social media where the visitors were found violating social distancing norms and were seen moving without face masks.

Yesterday, the UT administration had announced to reopen tourism sector for air travellers from outside J&K.
