A controversy has erupted over the repatriation of three senior officers from Jammu and Kashmir’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which is investigating corruption allegations in Srinagar’s Smart City project.

On Friday, former Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti claimed that the move “exposes the nexus between the corrupt and the most powerful.”

The ACB had already booked two senior officers of Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) in disproportionate assets cases. This week, the agency also began a preliminary inquiry after receiving information suggesting the misappropriation of materials in the SSCL projects.

On Thursday, following orders from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the J&K administration repatriated three Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) officers, namely Abdul Wahid Shah, Mohammad Rashid, and Rakesh Kumar, from the ACB to the Home Department for further posting.
