Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today invited panchayati raj institution representatives from Jammu and Kashmir to visit Parliament, so that they get first-hand experience of legislative process taking place at the highest level.

Birla, who is in the last leg of his weeklong visit to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, added that arrangement would be made by the Lok Sabha Secretariat for training of the representatives.

Birla also took note of the peace and development initiatives in the region. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
