A three-day technical training programme for members of Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) and Business Help Desks (BHDs) under Mission YUVA successfully concluded today at Government Polytechnic for Women, Bemina.

Organised by the Labour and Employment Department, the training saw participation from over 230 members from various districts across Kashmir Division.

Officials highlighted that Mission YUVA is designed to boost youth employment through entrepreneurship, with an ambitious target of establishing 1.37 lakh entrepreneurial units and generating 4.25 lakh jobs. To facilitate this, 20 SBDUs have been set up at the district level, while 80 BHDs operate at the sub-divisional and regional levels, offering comprehensive support services to nano enterprises and MSMEs.

The programme provided participants with hands-on training on using the Mission YUVA app and portal, as well as guidance on preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for prospective entrepreneurs. Special sessions covered key aspects such as the institutional business support structure, credit enablement, capacity building, connectivity, and schemes under Mission YUVA.

Speaking at the valedictory session, Shahzad Alam, Mission Director-cum-Director Employment, J&K, emphasised the programme’s role in empowering youth and transforming J&K’s economic landscape through entrepreneurship.

Officials noted that this initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening the institutional framework of SBDUs and BHDs, ensuring they play an effective role in supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses across the region.
