Members of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil on Monday met with the committee formed for new districts in Ladakh, to discuss the formation of new districts in the region.

The committee, led by Chairman Pramod Kumar Jain, included Kacho Asfandyar Khan, Tsering Angchok, and the Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse.

Representing LAHDC Kargil were Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Executive Councillor, Kacho Mohd Feroz, and all other elected and nominated Councillors.

During the meeting, LAHDC Councillors shared their perspectives individually and submitted their written representations to the committee. The committee members attentively listened and assured the Councillors that their concerns and suggestions would be thoughtfully considered. Additionally, the Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Mohammad Haneefa Jan, also met with the members of the panel to discuss the matter.

The MP suggested that aspirations of locals should be kept in mind and traditional peace, harmony and brotherhood must be strengthened. He also stressed for upgrade of health, higher education and other types of infrastructure on priority in the new districts as well as in the existing subdivisions, in relaxation of population norms.
