The Jammu and Kashmir Government today re-constituted the apex committee for the selection of the Ombudsman at the district level under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in the Union Territory.

The committee will be headed by the Financial Commissioner of Health and Medical Education Department as the Chairman while the representative of Union Ministry Of Rural Development, Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department and eminent civil society person nominated by the Union Ministry Of Rural Development will be the members of the selection committee.

The panel will recommend the selection of Ombudsman in each district. It will also recommend the termination of Ombudsman from his or her post in case of unsatisfactory performance.
