Panthers calls for Jammu bandh

The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today called for a complete shutdown on December 7 against the continuous mobile Internet ban and start of toll plaza in the Sarore area of Samba district.

“The BJP-led Central government has ruthlessly been suppressing the genuine aspirations of the nationalist people of the Jammu region. We call for complete Jammu bandh on December 7 to protest the continued blockade of mobile Internet services and government’s move of opening new toll plazas in Jammu and its vicinity,” Harsh Dev Singh, JKNPP chairman, told mediapersons here.

He alleged that it was an “insult to the people of Jammu who were subjected to Internet gag and communication blockade on the plea of its misuse for anti-national activities”.

Pointing towards the “irreparable damage” caused to students largely dependent upon online academic activity, Harsh Dev Singh questioned as to who would take the responsibility for their losses.

“The students preparing for general exams and for competitive exams are the worst sufferers with unemployed educated youth also facing insurmountable problems in the absence of Internet services. The traders had been hit hard due to the unwarranted government move sustaining losses worth several hundreds of crores of rupees,” he alleged.
