Scores of J&K National Panthers Party (JKNPP) activists on Sunday staged a protest against the continued ban on mobile Internet services in the Jammu region.

It was led by JKNPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh, who alleged that the Centre had economically ruined J&K and was also playing with the career of the students.

“The government has snapped mobile Internet services in the Jammu region for nearly 118 days and the continued ban is an arbitrary and obnoxious move, which has pushed people to Stone Age,” Singh said.

He said the ban was unjustified and exposes the failure of the Centre to maintain normalcy in the erstwhile state.

The JKNPP expressed concern over ‘totalitarian moves’ of the administration and the ruling political class, which has divested people of their fundamental right of speech and expression guaranteed in the Constitution of India.

“The prolonged Internet blockade has never happened before. The BJP after taking charge has often been resorting to such authoritarian moves only to demonstrate its authority and power.” — TNS
