Jammu, November 24

Chief Patron of J&K National Panthers Party (JKNPP), Prof Bhim Singh has urged the President to intervene to revive the political process in the newly created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The President’s Rule has added to the confusion, anarchy and the people in Jammu & Kashmir have lost faith in the governance because there is no appropriate advice or check on the working of unguided bureaucracy which has demolished the political apparatus in the state”, Prof Bhim said in the letter addressed to the President.

The NPP supremo also held a meeting with the leadership of the party. “President’s Rule does not provide for demolishing the political parties or suppressing/arresting/detaining the political leaders of opposition other than the RSS -affiliated groups”, the letter added. Bhim Singh appealed the President to issue strong direction to Lieutenant Governor to release all political workers/leaders so that the political process in the erstwhile state does not meet total disaster. He added that the huge money being spent on detentions of the political prisoners should be utilised for generating jobs and work for the unemployed youth of the UT.

Prof Bhim Singh further said any delay in restoring the statehood of Jammu & Kashmir would amount to dangerous consequences. The NPP has also sought permission from the President of India to hold an international conference of the representatives of all political parties from both sides of Jammu & Kashmir in March 2020.
