The police said a vehicle driven by Idrees Shafi Khan of Noorkhah Bijhama was intercepted at a checkpoint in Boniyar. “Upon conducting a search, 110 gram of heroin was discovered from his possession. He has been arrested and transported to PS Boniyar, where he is currently in custody. A case has been registered at the Police Station Boniyar, and an investigation has been initiated,” they said.

In a separate development, as part of the government of J&K’s public outreach initiative, the police said it organised ‘Thana Diwas’ at various police establishments in Pulwama, Budgam, Bandipora, and Handwara.

“These events, chaired by the respective jurisdictional police heads and attended by esteemed citizens, representatives of traders’ federation, Auqaf committees, transporters, DDCs, BDCs, and sarpanches aimed to address public concerns. “Participants highlighted various issues and they were assured by officers that genuine grievances would be prioritised for resolution,” the police said.
