BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh on Tuesday asserted that the people of India have rejected the opposition-led INDIA bloc and placed their trust in the BJP, which he claimed consistently fulfils its promises.

Addressing a gathering in Jammu, Chugh criticised Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, alleging that they have become liabilities for their party, the opposition alliance and the nation. He further claimed that Congress lacks both leadership and a vision for the country.

Chugh was in Jammu to unveil the statue of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh ideologue, at the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar. The event was attended by prominent BJP leaders, including J&K BJP president Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation Director Anirban Ganguly, BJP general secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, and MLA Vikram Randhawa.

Taking a dig at J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chugh advised him to focus on delivering his party’s electoral promises rather than pushing for the restoration of J&K’s statehood. He assured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah would fulfil their commitments to the people of the region.

Speaking at the statue unveiling ceremony, Chugh described Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay as a profound thinker who provided answers to key socio-economic and political challenges through an Indian philosophical lens. “He dedicated his life to the welfare of mankind and advocated a more humanistic approach to addressing global issues. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations,” he said.

Echoing these sentiments, Sat Sharma called Upadhyay a visionary leader who played a crucial role in shaping Indian political thought.
