To mark the beginning of this year’s annual Amarnath Yatra, a ‘Pratham Pooja’ for the pilgrimage was performed on Friday morning on the occasion of Jayesth Purnima at Shri Chaitaniya Ashram, Talab Tillo in Jammu.

Performed by chanting Vedic mantras and havan, the pooja was jointly organized by Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board and Baba Amarnath and Buda Amarnath Yatri Niyas.

“Today’s event marked the beginning of this year’s Yatra,” VHP, working president, Rajesh Gupta, who was present on the occasion, told The Tribune.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the venue was changed this year from Chandenwari, Kashmir to Chaitanya Ashram, Jammu. All the rituals were performed by adopting SOP such as social distancing etc.

SASB was represented by Vipul Pathak, Chief Executive Officer and Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor along with Anup Kumar Soni, Addl. CEO SASB & BABA Yatri Niyas represented by Pawan Kumar Kohli President, Karan Singh Charak and Sudershan Khajuria General Secretary along with Rajesh Gupta Working President VHP J&K.
