District Development Council (DDC), Doda, chairman Dhananter Singh Kotwal chaired a meeting on Monday to discuss the preparations for the winter festival to be organised in the scenic valley of Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu region.

Doda Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Mehta, and Joint Director of Tourism, Sunaina Sharma Mehta along with other senior officers from departments concerned were present in the meeting.

The meeting also witnessed participation from the hotel association, tourism association, tour and travel operators and other key stakeholders of the tourism sector.

Discussions were focused on finalising the schedule and arrangements for the Winter Festival-2024, which will showcase the scenic beauty and cultural heritage of Bhaderwah sub-division.

The festival, set to be held in the last week of December, will feature events at prominent locations such as Jai Valley, Guldanda, Padhri, and Bhaderwah Fort. Activities will include adventure sports, cultural performances and local cuisine, aimed at promoting Bhaderwah as a premier winter tourism destination.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC chairman emphasised the importance of collective efforts to make the event a grand success. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure all preparations, including infrastructure, security and hospitality, are completed well in time. The SSP highlighted the need for robust security arrangements to ensure the safety of tourists and participants during the festival.

Stakeholders assured their full cooperation and shared innovative ideas to attract a larger influx of tourists this winter season.
