Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take part in the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26.

Ladakh Lieutenant-Governor Brigadier BD Mishra (retd) held a meeting at the L-G Secretariat to discuss arrangements for the PM’s visit to the Kargil War Memorial at Drass.

The L-G discussed security and reception arrangements at the Drass helipad, necessary arrangements for the motorcade; procedure for the wreath-laying ceremony, interaction with war widows and preparation of the green room at the helipad.

Mishra said he would visit the war memorial on July 24 to inspect the preparations. He also inquired about the arrangements for the PM’s reception from the GOC of 8 Mountain Division Major General Sachin Malik.

Malik informed the L-G that the minute-to-minute programme schedule of the Prime Minister’s visit had been shared by the PMO.

Modi will also inaugurate the Shinku La Tunnel virtually and address gatherings before departing from the war memorial.
