Participating in the discussion on electoral reforms in the Lower House, Rashid highlighted that despite being in jail, he managed to fight elections and win by a margin of two lakh votes. Thanking the voters, the MP also thanked the ECI for conducting the poll “despite pressure from various quarters”.

He, however, complained that after delimitation of seats was done in J&K, only one seat was increased from Kashmir while five seats were increased in Jammu region, which he said "was not a good thing".
