Release Mufti, says MP Fayaz
New Delhi, September 17
Preventive and otherwise detention of political leaders and activists in J&K was an issue that reverberated in the Rajya Sabha today, with PDP MP Mir Mohammad Fayaz urging the government “to give back the right to talk about their people”.
Raising the matter during the Zero Hour, Fayaz said a year had gone by since the erstwhile state was reorganised into two UTs and still several political leaders were under detention under the PSA.
“It is a strange situation where the same person with whom the BJP formed the government in J&K and whose father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed served as Home Minister of the country can be put under arrest for so long,” Fayaz said, demanding release of the PDP chief. — TNS
