The Congress today urged the government to release compensation forfruit growers affected by the recent hailstorms in Kashmir valley.

In a statement, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice-president Haji Abdul Rashid Dar urged the Divisional Administration to assess the losses caused to orchards and agriculture land due to the hailstorms in Kashmir. He said the government should suitably compensate the affected growers.

Dar also expressed concern over reports on the supply of substandard pesticides to the growers. He urged the Horticulture Department to keep a check on the supply and ensure that good quality pesticides were given to the growers.
