Full dress rehearsals for the Republic Day parade took place throughout Kashmir, including at Bakshi Stadium—the venue for the main function on Wednesday.

Divisional Commissioner (Kashmir) VK Bidhuri, in the presence of Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Range) VK Birdi, presided over the rehearsal at the Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.

During the rehearsal, the Divisional Commissioner took the salute and inspected parade contingents. The Bakshi Stadium saw parade performances by various contingents, including BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, JKAP, IRP, women contingent, SDRF, Fire & Emergency, Forest Protection Force, NCC contingents, pipe band, brass band, and students from different schools.

Bidhuri appealed to the public to participate in the celebrations and said, “People have worked very hard for this function and we request everyone to join.” Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the rehearsal, Valley police chief Birdi said security arrangements are in place in Srinagar and other districts.

“The police are coordinating with other forces also. The security grid is vigilant and active,” he said.

While the security arrangement is stringent, directions have been passed to the security forces so that the general public does not face any inconvenience in joining the celebrations, he said.

In Ganderbal, the Deputy Commissioner unfurled the tricolour, took the salute during the march past, and inspected the parade at the full dress rehearsal held at Qamaria Stadium. In Baramulla, a full dress rehearsal took place at District Police Lines amid tight security arrangements. In Anantnag, Additional District Development Commissioner unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade, and took the salute at the march past at Government Degree College, Anantnag.

In Budgam, a full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day celebrations occurred at the Sports Stadium. In Pulwama, a full dress rehearsal unfolded at District Police Lines, where the ADC unfurled the National Flag and took salute from an impressive march past.

In north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day celebration was held at District Police Lines where Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute at march past presented by contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, IRP, Home Guards, FP and school children.

At Handwara, full dress rehearsal was held at District Police Lines where Sub Registrar, Handwara, unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute at march past.
