Justice Bansi Lal Bhat Chairman, Reservation Commission for Line of Actual Control (LAC), Ladakh, convened a key meeting with Tashi Gyalson, Chairman, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), on Thursday.

Justice Bhat, accompanied by Additional Secretary, Reservation Committee for LAC, Tsering Motup briefed Gyalson and the attendees on the status and progress made by the committee in formulating a reservation policy for residents living adjacent to the LAC. Emphasising inclusive development, Justice Bhat highlighted that the committee’s aim to alleviate the hardships faced by the residents in border areas. He stated that the primary objective of the meeting was to inform stakeholders about the committee’s work and to gather suggestions and objections from all concerned parties.

Justice Bhat stressed the necessity of establishing criteria to ensure that reservations are provided to the intended beneficiaries while excluding those who are not eligible.

During the meeting, Gyalson, executive councillors and councillors presented their submissions and feedbacks to Justice Bhat. — OC
