“For the past two days, I have unable to find any open grocery store in our area. Though I managed to buy vegetables from a roadside vendor in the wee hours today, chicken and mutton shops too are shut,” said Pervez Ahmad, a resident of Rawalpora.

Residents of other places like Jawahar Nagar too complained that groceries were shut and essential items were hard to procure.

“Though the road was barricaded, I was allowed to move when I said I wanted to buy groceries. However, I could not find any grocery shop open….though I could get vegetables from a hawker, all mutton and chicken shops were also shut,” said a resident of Jawahar Nagar.
