Rising Covid-19 cases: Lockdown imposed in most parts of J&K’s Samba district

After closing Vijaypur hospital, authorities have ordered complete lockdown of Samba and Bari Brahamana tehsils.
The hospital was shut after a staff member tested positive and lockdown had been imposed in Vijaypur tehsil of Samba district from Monday.
In view of the latest spur in Covid-19 cases, District Magistrate, Samba, Rohit Khajuria ordered complete lockdown in Samba and Bari Brahmana tehsils from July 23 to July 26.
“It has been noted with concern in last few days after relaxation in lockdown conditions, COVID positive cases have been increasing day by day in tehsil Samba and Bari Brahmana, and in order to prevent spread of Covid-19 the powers conferred by Section 34 of Disaster Management Act 2005, and under section 144 of Cr. PC 1973 upon me, a complete lockdown has been imposed in both the tehsils except the area falling under SIDCO complex, w.e.f 23/07/20 to 26/07/2020,” read the order issued by Khajuria.
As per the order, essential services, i.e., doctor clinics, chemist shops, and testing laboratories, will remain open from 9 am to 8 pm and grocery shops, milk shops, bakery shops, fruits and vegetable shops will remain open from 7 am to 12 noon during the lockdown.
Anyone found violating the order will be dealt firmly, warned the district administration.
