RM Public School, Jammu, in collaboration with the GS Sports Club organised an inter-school sports event “Khelo India”. It was organised to give message to society that “Don’t consider daughter a burden”. Ranjeet Kalra, member, BCCI, was the chief guest. RJ Vasudha Tikko (RED FM 91.9) was the special guest.

The ‘Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat’ Club of RUSA committee of Government Degree College (GDC), Jindrah, organised a film show on short history of Tamil Nadu depicting art and culture. As many as 50 students under the guidance of Prof Kalpna Kesar, principal of the college, participated in the event. Proceedings of the programme were initiated by Prof. Paramjeet Singh, nodal officer, EBSB Club, who sensitised the students about the theme.

Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School celebrated its annual-cum-sports day function. The chief guest was Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta and SK Sharma, Additional Commissioner Income Tax, Jammu. Sharma declared the meet open by lighting of the torch which was taken around the field by the head boy of the school, Imad Ul Haq. A march past was led by head girl Riya Manhas and Naman Verma. Dr Vikram Handa, principal of the school, welcomed the guests and apprised the audience about the sports events.

A seminar on ‘Women Empowerment Day’ was held on the premises of Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School. Dr. Jagdish Thappa (psychiatrist department, GMC) was invited to the institution. Girls of senior wing along with their teachers attended the seminar. Girl students were advised to interact with their parents and teachers to discuss issues confronting them.

Short treks by Tawi trekkers

Tawi Trekkers, J&K, the premier trekking organisation of J&K in co-operation with Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority is organising a series of short treks (adventure picnic) in the Surinsar-Mansar-Mahore Garh area. A group of trekkers comprising 131 students participated in the programme. Mountaineers Sonam, Manik, Sourav and Abhimanyu also participated in the event.

Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta conducted tour of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar, along with senior officers Suresh Kumar Gupta, Health Officer, Rakesh Bhatt, Transport Officer, Parshotam Kumar, Assistant Sanitation Officer.
