Search operation continues in Akhnoor sector

Security forces continued search operations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector on Wednesday, a day after two soldiers were killed and one injured in an IED explosion triggered by terrorists.

Massive combing operation was launched in the area covered with thick vegetation to know if the terrorist had planted more IEDs. Terrorists who planted the explosives are believed to be hiding in the forest area.

Sources informed that searches were conducted near the LoC and other strategic areas to sanitise it.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Army stated, “Suspected Improvised Explosive Device blast reported in Laleali in Akhnoor sector during a fence patrol resulting in two fatalities. Own troops are dominating the area and search operations are underway. White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers”.

The blast occurred at around 3.50 pm when the troops were patrolling the area close to the border fence.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tributes to bravehearts and said, “I salute the supreme sacrifice of our Army brave hearts who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Their valour and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The entire nation stands firmly with the family of the martyrs in this hour of grief”.
