A search operation was launched along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Uri area after Army personnel detected suspicious movement, officials said on Wednesday.
The operation was initiated in Kamalkote village of Baramulla district after troops observed activity close to the border.

An official said that late Tuesday night, soldiers spotted movement and fired warning shots. “A search operation was carried out during the day, and it was suspended around evening,” the official said, adding that the operation will resume on Thursday morning.
Security forces have intensified surveillance along the LoC amid concerns of increased infiltration attempts before heavy snowfall blocks the mountain passes commonly used by infiltrators in winter.
Earlier this month, security forces foiled an infiltration attempt in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, killing two unidentified infiltrators.
