Search operations continued in the Lasana area of Suankote in Poonch district after a gunfight took place between security forces and terrorists on Monday late evening.

Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police and the Army held joint patrols in the area where the encounter took place. It was reported that a soldier of the Rashtriya Rifles was also injured during the encounter.

The encounter had taken place after a specific information about the presence of terrorists in the forest area of Surankote was received and a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched.

On Wednesday, security forces personnel used sniffer dogs and UAVs to detect the location where the terrorists were hiding in the forest area. Till evening there were no reports of any contact with the ultras hinting that they might have fled deep into the forests.
