The State Election Commission (SEC) has notified the dates for updating the panchayat electoral roll in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the schedule, the publication of the draft panchayat electoral roll would start from January 15. January 1 has been kept as the qualifying date for all those who have attained the age of 18 and have become eligible for registering their name in the electoral roll.

Similarly, the period for filing of claims, objections for additions, deletions, corrections and transposition will be from January 15 to February 5. According to the schedule, the date for disposal of claims and objections by the Electoral Registration Officer would be February 16 while the final publication of the roll would be on February 26.

It has also been mentioned in the schedule that special camps would be held at polling booths. Panchayat election booth officials comprising village-level workers, multi-purpose workers and gram rozgar sevaks along with Assembly booth-level officials shall remain available with requisite forms to guide electors.
