Security stepped up across Jammu on Art 370 anniv eve

Security has been tightened across Jammu region on the eve of the fifth anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 in the wake of recent terror attacks.
Checkpoints have been installed at different points on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway where trucks and suspicious vehicles are being checked. J&K Police, Army and paramilitary forces have upped the vigil for Article 370 abrogation anniversary on August 5 and also for Independence Day celebrations.
Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom visited far off Dachhan area to review the security scenario and ensure comprehensive arrangements for maintaining peace and security in the region. The visit included thorough inspections of Dangdoro police post and Dachhan police station.
The SSP also chaired a Police-Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting. “This initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between the police and the community, with active participation from prominent citizens and public representatives,” an official informed.
In the meeting, the Kishtwar SSP engaged with local residents, addressing their concerns and assuring them that issues related to police matters would be prioritised, while those concerning civil administration would be escalated to the relevant departments for prompt resolution.
The SSP advised the youths of the area to avoid involvement in menace of drug abuse, criminal or subversive activities and assured them of the police’s support whenever needed.
Meetings were also held by senior police officials in Jammu, Kathua, Doda, Udhampur and Reasi districts to ensure peaceful observance of August 5 as rallies and events by political and social groups are expected to take place in different areas of Jammu division.
Meanwhile, the BJP will organise ‘Ekatma Mahotsav Rally’ on August 5 in RS Pura to celebrate the fifth anniversary of abrogation of Article 370.
