A 40-year-old man from the Sikh community was found hanging in south Kashmir’s Tral, the police said on Tuesday. The Sikh community has demanded a probe into the death.

Police sources said that the man was found hanging on Monday from a tree in Tral’s Daramgund Aripal area.

A police official said he had left his home without his phone at 11 am and was found hanging at 4 pm. “We have started the proceedings under 194 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita,” said a police official. The deceased has been identified as Surjeet Singh.

Another official said all required medico-legal procedures have been done and investigation has been taken up.
