The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industries-Kashmir (ACCIK) today urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to ensure smooth functioning of the Waqf Board by appointing board of directors.

“It is very unfortunate that the J&K Waqf Board — the leading organisation of Jammu & Kashmir — is without the board of directors and the CEO concerned therefore is without powers. As a result, for the last one year, the problems faced by the people of Valley have not been addressed due to which all issues are unattended and pending. We request the Lt Governor to look into the matter immediately and order smooth functioning of the Waqf Board so that huge pending problems of people are addressed at an earliest,” an ACCIK statement said. — TNS
